    Training & Progress

    ON THE Floor

Is martial arts good for kids with ADHD or focus issues?
The combination of intense physical exertion, structured routine and mindfulness engages the brain's executive functions. Learning and memorizing combinations trains working memory and sustained attention. Martial arts strengthen the neural networks tied to impulse control, lessening hyperactivity and emotional reactivity. The belt system provides clear, achievable milestones, while a predictable class structure prevents the mental fatigue open-ended workouts often cause. And intense full-body movement burns off excess energy, leaving your child calmer and more centered.
    How does belt promotion work?
Students are examined to Kukkiwon standard — the World Taekwondo Headquarters. Both Grandmaster W.S. Jeung and Master Philip Jeung hold Kukkiwon Poom/Dan examiner certification, so testing happens in-house against the same standard used worldwide.
    Who are your instructors?
Master Philip Jeung leads daily instruction, holding 7th Dan Kukkiwon and more than twenty-five years of experience. The school was founded by Grandmaster W.S. Jeung, 8th Dan Kukkiwon, who has been teaching for fifty years.
Can adults really start from zero?
Yes, and most of our adult students do. The beginner adult class exists specifically for people with no experience, combining detailed instruction, constructive feedback and applying technique.
Will Taekwondo make my child aggressive?
In our experience the opposite is true. Courtesy and self control are graded as seriously as technique, and students are taught from the first class that what they learn is for defense.
